Morning
slots will run from 8.30am-noon, with the group meeting in the Volvo Ocean
race Village. Afternoon slots will run
from 12.30pm -4pm (These times are subject to change).

8.30am Leader Meet and Greet and Safety
Brief on port side
9.00am Transfer to vessel
9.30am Vessel departs
11am Vessel Returns
11.30am Evaluation and Departure of group
Noon Group leave OYTI area for next
activity.
Lord Rank
can take up to 12 trainees on board for each experience. No sailing experience will be required
by any trainees.
No food will be provided on board although all trainees are welcome to bring
food and drinks on board the vessel however, please note that food such as
crisps and chocolate will make trainees feel unwell if they are affected with
sea sickness.
On arrival at the
dockside
- Registration
- All Trainees will be given a safety briefing to include use of lifejackets/liferafts
- Man overboard procedure and proper use of equipment.Trainees will be divided into 2 watches (Groups of 6)
- All Trainees will be given oil skins but trainees must wear appropriate shoes and weatherproof clothes to ensure they stay warm during the experience.
Transport to Vessel
Transfer by RIB to the Lord Rank or walk on.
On Board the Vessel
Crew
will welcome trainees on board and play some games to familiarize the trainees
with the vessel.
During
the experience trainees will;
- get a minimum experience of navigation
- helm the boat
- drop and raise sails
- learn key knots to assist with rope work
Transport from Vessel
Transfer by RIB to the Lord Rank or walk on.
Departure
from Dockside
Group Debrief and All Trainees will be asked to complete
a quick evaluation of their experience and given contact details of local yacht
clubs to encourage them to get involved in sailing locally.
